Computer Virus
People often heard of computers getting affected by virus. Not many people even know about them, what are they?and how they infect the computer data?A computer virus is simply a computer code written by a programmer to perform certain functions on an infected system. These viruses can either be as harmless as putting a humurous picture on your computer screen ,to being as destructive as deleting important files on your system. It all depends on their designer's personality and learnings towards society. One of the most vital activities of a virus is to self-replicate and infect other computers through CDs,floppy disks and now primarily the internet.Computer viruses have a colourful and exciting history ,not only due to the alarming speed at which they are created and spread but also because of the differing natures of the beast. One problem with understanding the history of computer viruses is that there is no real way to verify when and where they originated .Unlike researchers and scientists who vehemently attempt to acquire patents for their ideas and works;virus programmers are a different breed altogether;never too keen to have any fingerprints on their creations.Nonetheless, there is sufficient evidence to identify some key players.Anti-virus companies often employ hackers themselves in order to fully understand and find the ways to prevent damages caused by trillions of destructive codes floating around cyberspace. It is unlikely that there will ever come a time when computer viruses will cease to exist. They, like human viruses ,continue to evolve and mutate into more and more complex entities. However, like modern medicine, there will always be a cure to deal with them once they turn up.Perhaps, the real reason that viruses will always exist is simply because there is more money in programmes that help in dealing and cleaning infected computers than there is in writing software that is impervious to attacks and exploitation of its code.
